Practice Facilities

The Garden
There is an excellent practice area known as The Garden. It is famously out of bounds when playing the 18th hole. All members know that no round is complete at Royal Dublin until the player has finished out the 18th. Both the tee shot and approach shot across The Garden are very demanding.

The practice area encompasses the following:

  • Range: Practice balls are available from the ball dispenser near the practice area and tokens can be purchased in the pro-shop.
  • Chipping Greens: The chipping green typically has six to eight flags to play at from the fringe or surrounding bunkers. One half of the chipping green is raised so that players can test a variety of shots.
  • Putting Green: The putting green has a full 18 holes and is maintained to exactly the same standard as the greens on the courses. For those with less time, there is a small putting green at the first tee.
  • Practice Net: There is also a practice net with mats set into the ground in front of it so that players can warm up there if they prefer.
